Conjured in America examines objects and sites significant to historical and cultural framing in America. Both sides of a wood stretcher are stretched with sheer silk and painted with an object or place, viewed simultaneously with the specter of the painting on the other side. The pairings of object and/or space embody American experiences to reveal muddled origins and systems of power.
